Dry rot also called cubical brown rot is fungi that decays wood causing it to crack crumble or soften. There are two types of rot we see most often, dry rot and wet rot both caused by fungus they both start with moisture on the wood, but dry rot can continue to damage the wood even if the moisture issue is corrected, wet rot needs the moisture to continue to grow if the moisture issue is corrected it will not grow any further. Both rots require the wood to be replaced due to the structural integrity of the wood being compromised.
